With the start of moving pictures as we call them films now, male leading actors portrays sexy, cool, “bad-ass” man, who doesn’t care if the word ends in the next 5 minutes. And females, doesn’t matter if they are in a leading role or just appear in the background for a second, they all have to be sexy at one point.
Females are undervalued as a whole, and diminish them to sexual objects and passive human beings. Women are rarely treated with any sort of respect in film. They are shown as sex objects, like “Star Wars” or “Dirty Harry”. In crime/horror films women are often the victims, like in “Psycho”, "Scream", "A Clock Work Orange" and they are often times terrorized, beaten or raped before they are killed. Whenever there is a female in a movie somehow and somewhat they have to look sexually attractive. Remember the scene in the first "Matrix" movie, the girl with the red dress. There were like 20 male and 20 female in that frame walking around but that girl with the red dress is the center of attention. So even nowadays women in films are still used as an object, a sexual object. Like a beautiful flavor that you would plant on your garden just to make your garden look beautiful.
